Heroes are not what they used to be. Back in the day they were people who had actually done something like saving a life - or in the case of war heroes, being quite adept at taking them. Now pretty much anybody can a hero. Kick a goal: hero. Make a pile of cash: hero.
Interesting thing about the monuments dedicated to heroes... for the majority, their stories fade from public consciousness. So in time the legacy is not what you did, but why has this person no-one has ever heard of have a statue? Now that’s immortality.
